ONWA was looking for an identity that would represent its northern facilities and their diversity. We conceived a solution (after many rough ideas!) that used the northern lights as the metaphor for the north. Diversity was represented through the use of a variety of colours and shapes. The client was very pleased, as were we... as this was a tough one.

Novajet provides turnkey services to those looking to charter, manage or acquire an aircraft. They tasked Citrus Media will designing an identity that exuded confidence, refinement and premium. We chose orange (an energy colour) combined with a refined Serif typeface... we wanted to create a light and airy design to expand on the concept of flight.

Every year, the Rouge Valley Health System produces a themed fundraising event. Citrus was asked to create an identity titled “Paint the Town Rouge”, themed after ‘old hollywood’. We chose a direction that had a subtle undertone of Art Deco. In addition to the identity Citrus created various collateral pieces, which included a letterpress invitation.

Extra Medium is a film production company located in Durham Region, Ontario, Canada. Taking a slate (clapboard) and a piece of filmstrip, we formed a stylized letter “X”. “I tend to gravitate towards the simple solution, I find an elegance in simplicity... and when it comes to identities the art is in the distillation of a complex concept into its simplest form... a mark.” — Chris Trubela

Judo Ontario is the provincial governing body for Judo in Ontario. Their identity needed to retain some traditional elements but show progression and evolution. Cherry Blossoms, Trilliums, the belt colours and a stylized black belt all come together to form a mark that can be used with or without the accompanying text.

Maybe you’ve seen this identity around town in front of a home or apartment for rent. Its bold typeface stands out from a distance and is quickly readible passing by in a vehicle. Legibility considerations were as important as concept with this identity. Strong, vibrant red combined with bold black drives home the instant recognition of this brand.

The Ontario Federation of Anglers & Hunters were looking for a new, strong identity that would represent the various varieties of threat. Through the use of green representing land and blue representing water, Citrus crafted stylized species treatments in a bold geometric layout. Coupled with a rigid typeface, justified for strength the new identity was met with resounding success.

The Art of Transition is a forum for creative minds. Innovative thinkers from every facet of the economy are invited to connect and brainstorm new ideas, foster partnerships and welcome new opportunities for transitioning Durham Region into a new, creative economy. Citrus was asked to create a treatment for this logotype. Combining type with a flare against a more traditional serif type treatment.

LUSH creates feature films, short films, commercials, corporate video, viral video, they write, edit... a real powerhouse when it comes to video and film. Citrus was asked to create an organic treatment with a real tactile feeling. We went with grass combined with a dramatic lighting effect to add drama. Clement, owner of Lush exclaimed “I FUCKING LOVE IT!”. Nuff said.

The Loyalist is a retirement residence. The mark plays of the name of the facility recalling the ornate flourishes of the time. The flourishes were deliberately kept imperfect as we wanted a bit of a hand-crafted feel. Deep royal blue was chosen for the primary colour to add a real richness to the design.

Springboard produces music and events around Durham Region, Ontario. They needed a logo that expressed fun, excitement and energy. We decided to create a proprietary typographic treatment and integrate a “spring” icon culminating in a star, representing the talented musicians, actors and artists involved with Springboards events.

LexAnnexio is an innovative website for legal professionals to connect and share legal opportunities. We chose a stylized “X” which happened to double as one of the clients favourite symbols, the iron cross. Overlapping colour gradients were used to represent connectivity and community.

Geeks at Heart was a new on-line dating concept for... geeks. We wanted to be a little playful with this identity. A strong red and black colour palette was used to differentiate this logo from the competitors. A series of witty taglines based off references to sci-fi and tech culture were used to drive the concept home such as “<love><geek></love>” and “Fast-expand your love life”.
